Building Adullam

Adullam is not just a name.

The name comes from the biblical Cave of Adullam, where David sought refuge while fleeing from King Saul. Although it was a place of uncertainty, it became the place where he was prepared before becoming king.

That story resonated with me on a personal level. After losing my father to glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain tumour, my life changed in ways I could never have imagined. Grief forced me into a season I never chose, a season of silence, uncertainty, questioning, and rebuilding. Yet it was also in that season that I began developing my skills, refining my creative voice, and discovering a deeper sense of purpose.

Adullam became the name for that season. It represents the belief that our greatest transformation often happens away from recognition, and that the places we never wanted to be can become the places that prepare us for who we are called to become.

Project Overview

Adullam is a creative brand bringing together film, storytelling and fashion.

What began as a personal project has evolved into a creative platform for developing and applying skills across brand strategy, creative direction, content creation, and audience development through real-world execution.

Every aspect of the project is led from concept to execution, with film currently in development alongside fashion as part of the brand’s creative direction.

My Work Below

The Challenge

Film and fashion are highly competitive industries where quality alone is rarely enough to build a lasting brand.

The challenge is to create a distinctive identity before creating products or film. Establishing a clear point of view, a recognisable visual language, and a compelling story that people could connect with over time.

The objective is to build a brand with meaning first, allowing every future product, film, and creative project to strengthen the same.

Creative Direction

Adullam’s creative direction is guided by one principle: Every creative decision must serve the story.

Adullam explores the unseen seasons that shape who we become. Capturing stories of faith, identity, loss, purpose, resilience, and transformation through film, fashion, and visual storytelling.

Film, photography, fashion, and design are not separate disciplines. Together, they build one cohesive world where every project becomes another chapter in the Adullam story.

Blending cinematic realism with documentary-style storytelling, the work draws from authentic moments, personal archives, and intentional design to create films and experiences that feel honest, emotionally resonant, and unmistakably Adullam.

Creative Principles

  • Story before aesthetics.

  • Purpose before promotion.

  • Emotion before spectacle.

  • Authenticity over perfection.

  • Consistency over trends.

  • Every frame should carry meaning.

  • Every project should move the story forward.

Brand Strategy

In a culture driven by fast content and short attention spans, Adullam creates cinematic stories and thoughtfully designed fashion that endure beyond trends. Every project is guided by purpose, craftsmanship, and a commitment to telling stories that leave a lasting impression.

Film

Film is Adullam’s primary medium. Through cinematic narrative short films featuring scripted performances and character-driven storytelling, the brand explores themes of faith, identity, grief, purpose, resilience, and transformation.

Storytelling

Storytelling is the foundation of Adullam. Every creative decision begins with a story worth telling, shaping the brand’s identity, creative direction, and long-term vision.

Fashion

Fashion brings the stories into the physical world. Rather than following seasonal trends, each collection draws inspiration from the themes, symbolism, and emotional landscape of the films, allowing audiences to engage with the stories beyond the screen.

Community Engagement Strategy

Adullam believes a brand should create value beyond the products it creates. Community engagement is built on the principle that success should become an opportunity to give back.

This commitment is deeply personal. After losing my father to glioblastoma, I experienced how devastating serious illness can be for a family. That experience shaped a long-term commitment to building a brand that not only creates, but also contributes.

Community Initiatives

  • Host annual community pop-up events centred around film, fashion and culture.

  • Dedicate a portion of proceeds to charities supporting cancer research, breast cancer awareness, sickle cell support, homelessness, addiction recovery, and other causes aligned with the brand’s values.

  • Invest in community initiatives and charitable projects in Nigeria as the brand grows.

  • Publish annual impact updates outlining the organisations supported and the total amount donated, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Long-Term Vision

Adullam is only the beginning.

The vision is to build a creative house where films inspire collections, collections inspire conversations, and every project contributes to a larger story.

Adullam will bring people together through cinematic releases, fashion collections, exhibitions, pop-up experiences, and community initiatives. Creating a brand that exists not only in what people wear, but in what they watch, experience, and remember.

Every project will become another chapter in the Adullam story, building a legacy defined by purpose, craftsmanship, and meaningful impact.

Reflection

Building Adullam transformed my understanding of what it means to build a brand.

I started this project believing that great content was enough. Along the way, I realised that lasting brands are built through strategy, consistency, and a clear point of view.

Attention may attract people, but meaning is what keeps them engaged. The strongest brands don’t simply sell products, they create stories people connect with, experiences people remember, and communities people want to belong to.

More than anything, Adullam has strengthened my ability to think strategically, create with intention, and execute with consistency. It has become more than a portfolio project; it has become the foundation of how I approach branding, creativity, and marketing.
